Zimbabwe 2008 20,000 Dollars Pick 73a Plain Paper PMG 64 EPQ Choice Uncirculated
This Zimbabwe Reserve Bank 2008 20,000 Dollars banknote is Pick P-73a, certified by PMG as 64 EPQ Choice Uncirculated. The PMG holder identifies this variety as Plain Paper, records serial number AB6941623, and attributes Signature #8. The EPQ designation confirms PMG’s assessment of Exceptional Paper Quality.
The face features Zimbabwe’s familiar balancing-rock formation, a recurring national motif on modern Reserve Bank issues, together with the denomination 20,000 Dollars and the bank’s promise-to-pay inscription. The design is printed primarily in brown with soft pastel security colors, geometric elements, and a distinctive open security area at right.
The reverse presents two scenic vignettes, including Victoria Falls at left and a second landscape scene at right, framed by decorative geometric motifs and repeated denomination numerals. The imagery links the note to Zimbabwe’s natural landscape and national identity while retaining the standardized visual language used across the Reserve Bank’s rapidly expanding denomination series.
This 2008 issue belongs to Zimbabwe’s severe hyperinflation period, when rapidly declining purchasing power forced the Reserve Bank to introduce increasingly large denominations in quick succession. The 20,000-dollar note appeared during this escalation and forms part of the sequence that eventually produced some of the most famous high-denomination notes in modern monetary history.
The PMG attribution Plain Paper is an important variety distinction for this piece and should be retained exactly as shown on the holder. Combined with the Pick P-73a attribution and Signature #8, it gives collectors a precise identification within the broader 2008 series.
Certified PMG 64 EPQ Choice Uncirculated, this example offers attractive certified preservation, a clearly attributed plain-paper variety, and direct historical association with Zimbabwe’s 2008 hyperinflation crisis. It is well suited to collections of Zimbabwe paper money, hyperinflation currency, African banknotes, PMG-certified notes, and modern economic-history issues.
