Description
2019–2024 Syria 5000 Pounds Set of 10 Banknotes UNC
This listing features a set of 10 uncirculated 5000 Syrian Pounds banknotes, spanning years 2019 through 2024, issued by the Central Bank of Syria. These high-denomination notes reflect the ongoing inflation and economic crisis that gripped Syria during the post-civil war period, especially in the wake of international sanctions, conflict-related infrastructure loss, and currency depreciation.
First introduced in 2021, the 5000-pound note became Syria’s highest denomination at the time, reflecting the ongoing erosion of purchasing power in the local economy. Later reprints continued into 2024, with similar design but updated security and serial codes. The notes are printed on durable paper and include modern anti-counterfeiting features.
The obverse side of the note features a bold image of a Syrian soldier raising the national flag—a patriotic tribute to national unity and military resilience. The reverse side depicts the façade of the People’s Council of Syria (Syrian Parliament), symbolizing governance and national continuity amidst turmoil.
Security features include latent images, a watermark of the Syrian eagle, color-shifting ink, and microtext—demonstrating an evolution in Syrian banknote printing techniques, even in the face of resource scarcity.
Authenticity is guaranteed. Each of these notes is uncirculated and consecutive (or near-consecutive), giving collectors a clean, crisp insight into Syria’s most recent currency history.
Collector's Value:
For collectors of modern inflationary currency or Middle Eastern banknotes, this set is a compelling acquisition. It captures Syria's economic turbulence through real-world paper money, issued in high denominations seldom seen in the region before. The limited issue years and fresh UNC condition make this set highly appealing for those focusing on contemporary geopolitical numismatics.
