Description
Offered is a set of two 1950 $10 Federal Reserve Notes with individually certified high-grade examples from two different Federal Reserve districts. The pair includes a PCGS Currency Fr. 2010-G Chicago $10 graded Gem New 65PPQ, Wide and a PMG Fr. 2010-J Kansas City $10 graded Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ, Narrow. Both notes feature the classic 1950-design Federal Reserve Note format with Alexander Hamilton on the face and the U.S. Treasury building on the reverse.
The first note is identified on its PCGS Currency holder as Fr. 2010-G, 1950 $10 Federal Reserve Note, Wide, Gem New 65PPQ. Its serial number is G98111252A, with plate information B144/1223, and PCGS certification number 73822813. The G district designation corresponds to the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. The 65PPQ grade places this example in an exceptionally high state of preservation, with PCGS's PPQ designation recognizing exceptional paper quality.
The second note is certified by PMG as a 1950 $10 Federal Reserve Note, Fr. 2010-J, Kansas City, Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ, with Clark | Snyder signatures as identified on the holder. Its serial number is J29574836A, plate position B, and the PMG holder identifies the note as Narrow. The J district corresponds to the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, giving the pair a second Federal Reserve district represented alongside Chicago.
The appeal of this offering is the combination of two certified 1950 $10 Federal Reserve Notes with distinctive serial numbers, two different Federal Reserve districts, and two different format designations, Wide and Narrow. The matching denomination and series make the notes easy to appreciate as a pair, while the differing districts, widths, grades, and serial numbers give each example its own collecting identity.
The 1950 series belongs to the classic mid-century era of U.S. paper currency, when Federal Reserve Notes retained the traditional large-size portrait-centered design elements that collectors still associate with postwar American currency. The face features Alexander Hamilton, while the reverse presents an engraved view of the U.S. Treasury. For collectors of Federal Reserve Notes, district varieties, certified high-grade currency, or interesting serial-number combinations, this is a visually strong two-note grouping with plenty of historical and numismatic character.
This listing is for the complete set of two notes pictured, including the PCGS-certified Chicago example and the PMG-certified Kansas City example.
