Description

2021 Venezuela 10 Bolivar Digital Banknote P-116 (10 Million) Set of 10 UNC Rare Hyperinflation

Offered here is a set of 10 brand-new, uncirculated 10 Bolívares Digitales banknotes, all from the 2021 “bolívar digital” issue of the Banco Central de Venezuela. Catalogued as Pick P-116, these purple notes are part of the first family of Venezuela’s bolívar digital (VED) introduced on 1 October 2021, when the country lopped six zeros from the previous bolívar soberano at a rate of 1 digital bolívar = 1,000,000 sovereign bolívares.

Each 10 Bolívares Digitales note therefore represents the same face value as 10,000,000 (ten million) old bolívares soberanos, making this 10-piece set effectively equal to 100 million pre-redenomination units—a vivid artifact of Venezuela’s recent hyperinflation and its third large-scale currency reform.

Design & security features

Obverse – Simón Bolívar (vertical design)

  • Vertically oriented front in violet / purple tones featuring a modern engraved portrait of Simón Bolívar, “El Libertador” and national hero of Venezuela.

  • Legends include “República Bolivariana de Venezuela” and “Diez Bolívares”, with the denomination printed in large numerals for easy recognition.

  • Modern anti-counterfeiting elements such as fine-line background patterns, latent images, microtext, and see-through registration shapes integrated into the design.

Reverse – Battle of Carabobo Bicentennial

  • Horizontally oriented back showing the coat of arms at left and the Monument to the Motherland on the Fields of Carabobo at center, with a stylized panorama of the Battle of Carabobo (1821) to the right.

  • The inscription “200 Años Batalla de Carabobo” marks the bicentennial of the decisive independence battle, tying this banknote directly to a major patriotic anniversary.

  • Additional geometric patterns and color-shifting inks help secure the note while giving it a distinctly “digital” look that reflects the branding of the new currency.

Remarkable denomination – “10 Million” in old money

While the printed value of 10 bolívares digitales may seem modest, in historical terms each note condenses ten million of the previous bolívares soberanos, and an almost unimaginable 10¹⁴ pre-2008 bolívares when all three redenominations are taken into account. As such, this set captures in physical form both Venezuela’s hyperinflation and the government’s attempt to “reset” the currency system by removing zeros and simplifying daily transactions.

Collector’s value

For collectors of world inflation money or modern monetary history, this 10-note UNC bundle offers a ready-made mini-hoard from Venezuela’s latest redenomination. The combination of Bolívar’s portrait, the Carabobo bicentennial theme, and the dramatic 10-million-to-1 conversion makes these notes stand out in any album or teaching collection. Owning a full set of ten crisp examples lets you keep some for your own display while having spares for trading, educational use, or gifts—an affordable yet historically powerful addition to any world banknote lineup.
