Description

1989 Singapore $1 Ship Series Full Pack 100 Consecutive UNC Notes with Staining

Offered here is a full original pack of 100 consecutive banknotes from the Singapore $1 Ship Series, issued by the Board of Commissioners of Currency, Singapore (BCCS) during the 1980s–1990s. Each note is Crisp Uncirculated (UNC), never circulated, and remains part of its original bank-wrapped bundle.

This pack, however, shows visible staining/toning from long-term storage, as seen on the outer notes and paper band. The notes themselves retain their original crispness and Uncirculated condition, with the staining largely cosmetic.

Design & Features:

  • Obverse (Front): Features the national Coat of Arms, the denomination “$1,” and a finely engraved Chinese junk ship under full sail, symbolizing Singapore’s historic maritime trade. The note also carries the red seal of the Board of Commissioners of Currency and the serial number in bold black ink.

  • Reverse (Back): Shows Singapore’s telecommunications satellite earth station, representing the nation’s modernization and rapid development during the late 20th century.

  • Security Features: Complex guilloche background, microtext, fine intaglio engraving, and fluorescent features under UV light.

Bundle Details:

  • Country: Singapore

  • Series: Ship Series

  • Denomination: $1

  • Quantity: 100 notes (full pack)

  • Serial Numbers: Consecutive

  • Condition: Crisp Uncirculated (UNC), with staining/toning present

Historical Significance:
The Ship Series (1984–1999) replaced the Orchid and Bird series and highlighted Singapore’s transition from a maritime trading post to a global economic hub. The $1 denomination was the most widely recognized and heavily used, making preserved full UNC packs uncommon today.

Collector’s Value:
Despite the visible staining, a complete consecutive UNC pack of Ship Series $1 notes remains highly collectible. Such intact bundles are becoming scarce, valued both as a nostalgic keepsake of everyday Singapore currency and as a numismatic piece of the nation’s development era. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a full pack at an affordable entry point for collectors of Singapore notes and Ship Series enthusiasts.
