Description
1913 Mexico Banco Nacional de Mexicano 10 Pesos M299e PMG 64 EPQ Rare Low Pop
Offered here is an original 10 Pesos banknote issued by El Banco Nacional de México and dated 24 de Octubre de 1913, catalogued as Pick S258e / M299e. Certified by PMG as Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ, this note is fully authenticated and encapsulated, preserving its originality and crisp paper quality.
Struck at the height of the Mexican Revolution, this issue captures the final years of the great private Mexican banks before the transition to Banco de México. Notes from this turbulent era saw hard circulation and high attrition, making well-preserved survivors highly elusive — especially in high grade and with Exceptional Paper Quality. According to the population data provided, only 4 examples are currently graded 64 EPQ, with just 4 pieces graded higher, underscoring the scarcity of this type at the top of the census.
The design is a classic product of the American Bank Note Company. At left appears an ornate portrait of a young woman framed by rich guilloché and microtext. The central vignette shows an allegorical female figure seated amidst abundant agricultural produce, backed by a detailed landscape — a tribute to Mexico’s natural wealth and commercial promise at the dawn of the 20th century. Bold red serial numbers, the red Banco Nacional seal, and intricate multicolor lathework complete the layout, while the denomination “DIEZ PESOS” is repeated in finely engraved panels and counters.
For the advanced collector of Mexican paper money, this 1913 Banco Nacional 10 Pesos offers an appealing combination of beauty, history, and true condition rarity. With a low PMG population in Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ and only a handful known finer, it is a prime opportunity to secure a trophy example of this Revolution-era type for a top-tier Mexico or Latin American collection.
