1909-11 T204 Ramly Joe Dunn PSA 6 EX-MT Scarce Pre-War Tobacco Card Brooklyn Catcher
Offered here is a 1909-11 T204 Ramly Joe Dunn tobacco card, graded EX-MT 6 by PSA, a highly sought-after example from one of the most ornate and celebrated early 20th-century baseball card issues.
The T204 Ramly set was issued by the Ramly Cigarette Company of Massachusetts, featuring finely detailed gold-embossed frames with intricate scrollwork that distinguish them as some of the most visually elegant tobacco-era cards. Each card showcases a sepia photographic portrait, giving it a distinguished, almost cabinet-card quality compared to the more common lithographic tobacco issues of the era.
Joe Dunn, catcher for the Brooklyn Nationals (later the Dodgers), is depicted in formal attire within the elaborate gold-bordered frame. The reverse bears the classic Ramly Cigarettes advertisement, noting “10 for 10 cents” and the Factory 456 designation, adding historical advertising charm to the collectible.
Cards from the T204 series are notoriously difficult to find in higher grades due to their delicate borders and ornate printing. This PSA 6 example represents a strong survivor, offering sharp detail, strong centering, and excellent overall presentation.
Collector’s Value:
The T204 Ramly set is beloved by pre-war baseball enthusiasts for its artistry and rarity. With fewer high-grade examples available, this Joe Dunn card presents a unique chance to own a well-preserved piece of early baseball history. A superb addition for advanced collectors building a pre-war, Hall of Fame, or tobacco-era card collection.
